Former Maryland State Senator David Harrington Dead At 68 After 40 Year Public Service Career

A Former Maryland state senator and Bladensburg Mayor has passed away just months after stepping down from his role as the President of the Prince George's County Chamber of Commerce, confirms the Washington Informer.

David Harrington, 68, dedicated his career to public service in the Washington metropolitan area for over 40 years. He served on the Prince George's County Council from 2002-2008 and as a state senator from 2008-2011, the outlet continues.

Harrington was a "proud graduate" of Howard University, with a mission of "mission of excellence, service, advocacy, policy advisory, mentorship, and leadership". Several leaders have spoken out about Harrington's death, recognizing him as an inspiration after encouraging Black business owners to get in, and stay in business.
